They are permanent and come just about as close to a real tooth as, well, real teeth. They are surgically placed into the jawbone and can be used to replace a single missing tooth, several missing teeth, or a whole mouth of missing teeth. When you choose Pacific Maxillofacial Center, you are choosing the best Honolulu dental implants in the area. We are focused on results and excellent service from the moment you walk in our door to the first bite you take with your new implant.

Dental Implant Basics

A tooth replaced with an implant is comprised of three basic parts: a screw-like implant, abutment, and crown. The implant is made of titanium and is the portion that is surgically inserted into your jawbone. It's made of titanium because titanium is a well-known biocompatible material that your bone will accept and grow around in a process known as osseointegration.

Once the implant has had some time to heal, it will be time for another trip to our office, where we will test the implant to make sure it has healed well to your bone. Once we determine the implant has integrated into your bone, you are ready for the next steps in having a dental crown made.

You will have an appointment for digital or traditional impressions to be taken and sent to a lab. The lab will fabricate an abutment and crown custom-made for you! Your general dentist will see you back, and screw the abutment into the implant, which gives surface area for the crown to attach to. When the crown (or denture) is attached, your implant will be finished!

Dental implants can make a big impact on your oral health if you are facing tooth loss or are missing teeth already. A missing tooth can cause all sorts of issues with your bite, and your ability to eat and speak comfortably. Removable tooth replacement options like partial dentures often only solve one part of the issue (the aesthetic but not the function).
