Are There Benefits Of A Tooth Extraction?

Are There Benefits Of A Tooth Extraction?Did you just get the news that you need a tooth extraction? There are benefits of tooth extractions for many people. Here are a few occasions where a tooth extraction might be the best thing for you.

Overcrowding

Dentists remove teeth when your mouth is not large enough for all of your teeth to fit comfortably. If dentists don't remove a couple of teeth, your teeth can become overcrowded and overlap each other, which can lead to other dental problems, such as issues with your bite or with your jaw joints. Often dentists will remove teeth in order to correct your bite and tooth spacing issues with aligners or braces. Tooth extraction is a stepping-stone to a better smile.

Disease

Dental practitioners have to perform tooth extractions due to tooth decay as well. If a cavity is not discovered and filled, the bacteria will continue to drill their way into your tooth pulp. There are times a tooth that is infected can be saved through a root canal. However, your tooth may need to be pulled before the infection spreads to other teeth, gums, or soft tissues in your mouth.

Accident or Injury

When children lose their baby teeth after they get hit in the mouth, dentists don't replace them. However, dentists will try and save permanent teeth if at all possible. If your tooth is broken, cracked, or severely chipped, the dentist may have no choice but to extract it. If the tooth is removed, dentists can place a restorative dental piece in place of the missing tooth, such as a bridge or a dental implant. No matter the reason your tooth gets removed, you can still emerge from the dentist's chair with a healthy, bright smile.
